Handcrafted Chocolates

Old Kentucky Chocolates began more than 60 years ago, with a passion for craftsmanship, family, and Kentucky tradition.

Kentucky is more than an address for our chocolate company. It's home, it’s where we live, who we are, and how we do business. We make our chocolates, right here in Lexington, the Horse Capital of the World, the heart of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and the Kentucky’s Bluegrass Region - listed in National Geographic Traveler's "50 Best Places of a Lifetime" — and home of the University of Kentucky, the Kentucky Wildcats, and Keeneland, the world’s most beautiful thoroughbred race track.

And from the first Bourbon Chocolate that we made in 1964, up to the present day, Kentucky has inspired us to take a craftsman’s approach to chocolate: creativity, patience, and mastery.

To bring you the best.  That's our mission.

Our Story

It’s why we show up every day. To make small-batch gourmet chocolates that amaze with fresh ingredients and exquisite flavor.

A few things have changed over the years...what started with Bourbon Chocolates, Bourbon Cherries, and Old Fashioned Pulled Creams, has grown to include gourmet truffles, sea salt caramels, chocolate-covered strawberries and grapes, and other delicious chocolates. And with each new product, our goals are the same: to create exquisite chocolates and to give you the best experience while visiting our retail stores or buying chocolates online.

Since Don and Pam Hurt founded the company in 1964, they have been joined by his niece, Julia Kirkpatrick, nephew Bill Hurt, as well as great-niece and nephew Will and Katie Hurt. Our Kentucky roots run deep, as our family has lived in Kentucky for more than 200 years.  Growing up “OKC,” this next generation has been living and breathing a passion for great chocolate ever since they were born.
